Privacy Policy

We're a small family shop, and we treat your information the way we'd want ours treated: carefully, and never for sale.

This policy explains how Blue Wave Jet Ski Rentals, a family-owned shop in Woods Cross, Utah, handles your personal information: anything that can identify you or be used to reach you, like your name, email address or phone number. It covers this website and what you tell us when you call, text, email, book or rent from us.

The short version

  • We never sell your personal information or share it for anyone else’s marketing.
  • This site has no ads, analytics, tracking pixels or remarketing, and our own code sets no cookies for visitors.
  • You can browse the whole site without telling us who you are.
  • When you contact us or book, we use your details to answer you and run your rental. We also send marketing emails, and you can stop them anytime. We only text you about your question or booking.
  • Booking and payment happen on Recreogo, under Recreogo’s own privacy policy.
  • You can ask us to correct or delete your information.

What we collect, and when

When you browse. You don’t have to give us anything. Like any website, ours runs on servers that see basic request details, such as your IP address and what your browser sends, so they can deliver the page.

When you use our contact form. It asks for your name, email address, an optional phone number and your message.

When you call, text or email us. We see your phone number or email address and whatever you tell us.

When you book. Booking runs through Recreogo, our reservation partner, which passes your booking details to us so we can run your rental.

When you pick up. We check what the rental requires, such as a valid driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance. Your rental agreement and waivers are signed through Recreogo, and our check-out checklist (also on Recreogo) records a driver’s license number and check-out photos, one showing your tow vehicle’s license plate.

How we use it

  • To answer your questions and messages.
  • To run your rental: dates, pickup or delivery, the damage hold, check-out, check-in and any follow-up.
  • To send marketing emails (see below).
  • To keep the site and contact form working and free of spam and bots.
  • To keep the records the law and our taxes require.

Who else handles it

We don’t sell, trade or rent your personal information. We do rely on a few service providers that handle it for us:

  • Cloudflare hosts this website. To deliver and protect it, Cloudflare processes visitor data that may include IP addresses and other information about traffic to and from the site. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy (opens in a new tab).
  • Cloudflare Turnstile is the bot check on our contact form. It looks at signals like your IP address, TLS fingerprint and browser user agent. Cloudflare says it collects them to detect and block bots (and to improve Turnstile), not to identify, profile or target anyone. By default it issues a token rather than a cookie, and it never sees what you type in the form. Our server sends that token and your IP address to Cloudflare to check it. See the Turnstile privacy addendum (opens in a new tab).
  • Resend, an email delivery service, carries your form message from our server (a Cloudflare Worker) to our inbox. See Resend’s privacy policy (opens in a new tab).
  • Google runs our Gmail inbox, where form messages and your emails land. See Google’s privacy policy (opens in a new tab).
  • Recreogo runs our booking, rental agreement, waivers and check-out checklists, and Recreogo and its payment processor handle your payment. See Recreogo’s privacy policy and terms (opens in a new tab).
  • A mailing service helps us send some marketing emails.

We may also share information when the law requires it, such as for a court order or a request from law enforcement, or when we need to handle a damage claim with our insurer or collect an unpaid balance.

Cookies, fonts, videos and lake data

Our own code sets no cookies for visitors. (The site’s content editor, which only our staff use, may set a sign-in cookie for them.) The fonts are served from our own site, not loaded from Google Fonts.

Cloudflare may set strictly necessary security cookies, such as __cf_bm when its bot protection is on. That one expires after 30 minutes of inactivity, and Cloudflare says it makes a separate one for each site and doesn’t track people from site to site.

YouTube videos. Our machine pages show videos in YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). Google says a video watched that way won’t shape your YouTube experience or be used to personalize ads you see elsewhere. The player still loads from Google when you scroll to it, so Google receives information from your browser, such as your IP address. The player may also store or read information in your browser, such as cookies or local storage. Google’s privacy policy (opens in a new tab) and YouTube’s Terms of Service (opens in a new tab) apply to the player.

Lake conditions. Our lake pages ask the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and the National Weather Service for live conditions, like water levels and wind, directly from your browser. Those government sites log basic request details such as your IP address. See the USGS (opens in a new tab) and National Weather Service (opens in a new tab) privacy policies.

How we respond to Do Not Track signals

Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” signal. Our site doesn’t track you across other sites or over time, so there’s nothing for that signal to switch off, and the site works the same either way.

Can other companies track you through our site?

We don’t run ad networks or tracking pixels. Two parts of our site are other companies’ services, under their own policies, and they may collect information about you: the YouTube player on our machine pages, which is Google’s (Google says views in privacy-enhanced mode aren’t used to personalize ads, but the player still receives information from your browser, such as your IP address), and Recreogo once you click through to book. Recreogo’s privacy policy says it may allow third-party advertising and analytics providers on its platform.

We link to Recreogo, our Facebook, Instagram and Yelp pages, official state and federal pages, and a few other helpful sites, like boating-safety courses and local event pages. Facebook, Instagram and Yelp are plain links: nothing from them runs on our pages. Once you click through, that site’s own privacy policy applies, and we aren’t responsible for what it does. If something on a site we link to seems off, please tell us.

Marketing emails

We send marketing emails to past renters, people who’ve used our contact form, and people who’ve called or texted us and given us an email address. They go out through Recreogo and a mailing service. To stop them:

  • Use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.
  • Or just ask us, by phone or email.

We don’t send marketing texts. When we text you, it’s about your question or your booking. If you’d rather we didn’t text you at all, reply STOP or let us know. We never share your mobile number with anyone for their own marketing.

Our emails follow the federal CAN-SPAM Act. We use honest subject lines and a real sender, make it clear when a message is an ad, include our shop’s physical address, put an unsubscribe link in every marketing email, and honor opt-outs quickly. We also check that Recreogo and our mailing service follow these rules when they send marketing emails for us.

Your choices

You can ask us to correct or delete the personal information we have about you. We’ll do it, except for records we need to keep, such as rental agreements and tax or payment records. Email info.bluewaverentals@gmail.com or call (801) 923-8185. We may need to confirm it’s really you first. Your Recreogo account itself is covered by Recreogo’s privacy policy.

How long we keep things

We keep your information as long as we need it to answer you, run your rental, send marketing until you opt out, and meet legal and tax requirements. Some of our service providers also keep copies on their own schedules. For example:

  • Resend keeps contact form messages and their delivery details for 30 days.
  • Our hosting request logs (Cloudflare Workers Logs) are kept for up to 7 days.
  • Recreogo keeps booking, waiver and check-out records under its own privacy policy.

Keeping it safe

Our site uses HTTPS, an encrypted connection, and tells your browser to always use HTTPS for it (that’s called HSTS). No system is perfect, though, and we can’t promise nothing will ever go wrong.

If a security breach affects personal information we hold, or that a provider like Recreogo keeps for our rentals, we’ll look into it promptly. If the information is the kind Utah’s breach law covers (your name together with a driver’s license or state ID number, a Social Security number, or a financial account or card number plus the code needed to use it) and it has been or is reasonably likely to be misused for identity theft or fraud, we’ll notify you as that law requires (Utah Code 13-44-202 (opens in a new tab)), without unreasonable delay.

Children’s privacy

Our site isn’t aimed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. You have to be 18 or older to rent from us. If you’re a parent and think your child under 13 sent us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we’ll post the new version here with a new effective date. If we add analytics or advertising tools, such as Google Analytics or the Meta pixel, we’ll update this policy before they go live. A link to this page sits at the bottom of every page on our site.
