When does Utah's rental season start?

Our rental season runs April through October, but the best weeks depend on which lake and what you are after. Here is a month-by-month guide.

April

Too cold for most lakes up north. Utah Lake sometimes has a handful of willing riders by late April, but you are in a wetsuit and the water is brutal. Down south, Sand Hollow and Quail Creek are our go-to spring picks.

May

Riding season gets going on Utah Lake. Bear Lake is still cold (water has that early-season chill that removes most of the fun). Lake Powell is approaching comfortable. Memorial Day weekend starts the busy period.

June

Prime month for Utah Lake, Pineview, and Willard Bay. In 2026, though, Pineview’s Port Ramp Marina closed for reconstruction (Forest Service order through December 31, 2026), its Anderson Cove launch closed July 20 for low water, and from August 31 the reservoir was closed to motorized boats. On October 5, 2026, Utah State Parks listed both Willard Bay ramps closed for low water. Check the Forest Service’s ramp status for Pineview and the state park’s for Willard Bay before you tow; our Pineview and Willard Bay pages link both. Bear Lake is still cold and can be brisk even with a wetsuit. Weekend demand picks up sharply.

July

Peak season, and the water is warm at most of our lakes. Saturdays book up first, so reserve as soon as you have the date.

August

Peak conditions continue. Bear Lake is at its best (warmer, with smaller crowds than July 4th weekend). Lake Powell approaches summer crowd peak.

September

Our favorite month. Warm days, cool-but-tolerable water, fewer crowds. Shoulder-season pricing often applies.

October

Utah Lake State Park and the Bear Lake marina stay open year-round, but the water cools fast. Bear Lake is cold by early October, and Rendezvous Beach closes around the third weekend of the month (2026 schedule). Down south, Sand Hollow and Quail Creek stay warm long after the northern lakes cool off. Our season ends October 31.

November–March

Off-season. We don’t rent these months, but we’re still answering the phone at (801) 923-8185, and online booking covers April–October dates.

Watching the forecast for your lake matters more than the calendar date: a warm October is better than a cold June. Book your day.
