Closest water to Ogden
- Pineview Reservoir: the classic Ogden ride, a short hop up Ogden Canyon. Wide, beginner-friendly water ringed by the Wasatch. (Heads up: in 2026 the Port Ramp Marina closed for reconstruction, Anderson Cove’s launch closed July 20 for low water, and from August 31 the reservoir was closed to motorized boats, so check the Forest Service’s ramp status before you tow.)
- Willard Bay: wide-open freshwater a quick run up I-15; go in the morning before the wind builds. (Heads up: on October 5, 2026, Utah State Parks listed both Willard Bay ramps closed for low water, launch at your own risk, so check their status before you tow.)
- Bear Lake: turquoise big water on the Idaho line, about two hours north of our Woods Cross pickup for a full-day trip.
Why renters in Ogden skip the on-lake counters
Rent from a ramp-side shop and you pay for its waterfront overhead. Pick up from us in Woods Cross instead and there’s no rental counter to wait at once you get to the lake: your machine is reserved, the price is better, and you choose the lake. You still share the public ramp, so on a hot Saturday, get there early. Before you launch: from January 1, 2027, Utah requires an annual boating safety course for every driver, visitors from out of state included. Bring proof or we'll brief you at pickup, and every machine goes out clean, drained, and AIS-compliant.

Check first. Pineview was drawn down in 2026 for a new Ogden City drinking-water pipeline: the Port Ramp Marina closed for reconstruction (a Forest Service order through December 31, 2026), Anderson Cove's launch closed July 20 for low water, and from August 31 the reservoir was closed to motorized boats. Before you tow in 2027, check the Forest Service's ramp status (our Pineview page links it), and arrive early on weekends.
