The Wake 170 is what you rent when the day’s plan involves a tube, a wakeboard, or a group that wants more pull than the 130. Sea-Doo’s 170 HP Rotax engine pairs with a ski pylon that lifts the tow rope clear of the stern, a board rack for your wakeboard, and the iDF intelligent debris-freeing system that clears weeds or debris from the intake without leaving the water.

Same 3-rider capacity as the GTX PRO 130, on Sea-Doo’s nimble GTI hull, and the throttle response tells you quickly that this one has more to give. Good pick for experienced riders stepping up, or groups who planned their outing around watersports rather than just cruising.

The Wake 170 works on every lake we serve, but our pick for it is Jordanelle. It’s about 50 minutes from our Woods Cross pickup (we deliver there too), and the state park lists waterskiing among its activities. Launch early to catch the calm morning glass before the afternoon wind funnels down the canyon arm. Then let Ski Mode handle the pulls: Sea-Doo built it to get the acceleration right on every tow. Between pulls, the large swim platform and fold-down boarding ladder make it easy to climb back aboard out of deep, cold mountain water.

Renting the Wake 170

  • Price: $275 for one day or $550 for two days, before taxes and fees. A full day is up to 12 hours, 8 AM to 8 PM. Multi-day discounts start on rentals of 3 or more days.
  • Damage hold: a refundable $500 hold per machine goes on your card on the day of pickup and is released within 3 to 7 business days after the machine comes back in its original condition.
  • Included: two U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jackets (we stock sizes from small child and youth to adult XXL; extras are $10 a day) and, for pickup rentals, our trailer at no extra charge. It goes out empty and comes back empty on fuel; gas cans are available on request. If you refuel from one, pull the machine out of the water and away from the ramp first, and follow the marina’s own rules.
  • Pickup or delivery: pick it up at 901 S. 1800 W in Woods Cross, or we deliver to Bear Lake, Pineview Reservoir, Willard Bay, Jordanelle Reservoir, Utah Lake and Deer Creek, and to other lakes with our approval (no delivery to Lake Powell). The delivery fee is per trip and depends on the location; call (801) 923-8185 for a quote. While a lake’s ramps are closed, we still deliver, just to a different lake, and if a machine can’t be launched where you planned, we’ll let you know.
  • What you need: you must be 18 or older to rent, and every driver must be 18 or older too. Bring a valid driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance. For pickup, your vehicle needs a 2-inch hitch and a flat 4-prong light hookup.

Towing anyone? Utah requires an observer on board besides the driver, at least 8 years old, and an orange flag displayed when a tow is finished or about to begin. Ask us about a flag before pickup.
